Art and Design
Art and Design give all children the opportunity to explore, develop and master new techniques in order to enhance their skills and knowledge. Our curriculum enables pupils to design, make and evaluate projects whilst learning and using technical vocabulary to describe processes. Children’s knowledge and understanding are deepened as the children study famous artists and designers.
We believe that Art and Design Technology gives children the skills, confidence and imagination that transfers into all subjects across the curriculum as well as in their wider lives.
Inspiring and nurturing their curiosity, interest, skills, and knowledge enables them to achieve in the subject. Through providing opportunities for the children to reflect on, and evaluate their work - both independently and collaboratively, they can take pride in their work and know how to develop it further.

Design Technology
We aim for Design and Technology to bring learning to life for the children. Skills such as designing, making, evaluating, and understanding technical knowledge in different circumstances and with different materials are engaging and rewarding for the children to participate in. Design and Technology provide a clear context for applying skills and knowledge from other areas of the curriculum including English, art, and maths. We want children to be given the opportunity to learn a wide range of new skills and build on those learned in previous years.
Through our design and technology curriculum, all children are encouraged to deepen their understanding of processes and the ability to problem solve.
